Decorating a bathroom with classic coastal style
Share
If you love the beach, searching for beach treasures, or decorating with coastal decor, I’m looking for YOU!
It seems like bathrooms are the most common space to decorate in a beachy style, and one of the rooms that tends to get filled with the tackiest beach decor. I’ll admit I’m not innocent there!
In my first apartment, I had the ocean scene shower curtain and a soap dispenser with plastic fish floating in it.
Since developing more of my coastal aesthetic, I’ve really enjoyed decorating coastal bathrooms as much as my other spaces. It’s an easy spot to begin with coastal decor because, well it’s a “water” focused room! But stay away from the tacky stuff and make it your own.
I’ve always had a hard time keeping my own beach signs because I tend to pull them off the walls to sell, but my bathrooms have always been one spot I rarely touch the signs I hang up!
To keep your bathroom from being tacky, make your own set of decor versus purchasing a typical matching bathroom set of shower curtain, rugs, and soap dispenser.
Add in handmade art or some unique pieces. Jars of shells are great in the bathroom too.
I love using my signs like “No Lifeguard on duty” or “Private Beach Access” because it fits for a private, unsupervised location without being cheesy!
I love adding texture with baskets, shells, cute towels, and driftwood in bathrooms too.
