Finding Shark Teeth on Amelia Island
Share
If you love the beach, searching for beach treasures, or decorating with coastal decor, I’m looking for YOU!
Besides sea glass, I love finding sea coral, pottery, shells, and shark teeth.
Amelia Island is known for great shark tooth hunting but it isn’t always the easiest thing to find! I’ll willingly admit that it took me a couple months of trying and sending a beach combing friend pictures of triangle shaped shells that I thought might be shark teeth before I learned how to spot them!!
It’s still sometimes hard to spot them even though I know how!
My best tip is to look for shiny black triangles in the sand and go from there! In the dry sand or shell piles they are harder to spot, but I’ve found a few there. I always try to find a spot where the water is hitting and shifting the sand a bit and see if I spot any tiny black triangles on the move.
Sometimes I’ll sit at the waters edge and dig, or tidepools are a really great spot too.
If you have a best tip drop it below, happy hunting and follow along for more beachy inspiration.
